I can't believe it's almost February! I'm still trying to get caught up from the holidays. I've been reflecting a lot on 2011 and of course making goals for an even better year for 2012. Last year was all about Photography, family and....... new experiences. I think our biggest 'new experience' came when we made a decision to start fostering dogs (one at a time!!!! although that rule has been broken a couple of times). If you are an 'extreme' animal lover like me then I highly recommend it! It is definitely hard work and very hard to say goodbye, BUT the rewards far out weigh those things. Our newest additions (and rule breakers) are Michaelean and Shauneen. These two are 12 week old sisters and just so fun to watch and snuggle with. Big Chief just went to his new home a coupe of weeks ago and he is missed. He is a gentle giant and we loved having him.

It was hard to say goodbye to sweet Olivia Jude. Cutest puppy ever, right?

Ollie was a giant puppy, full of fun!

Oh, Carmen how we loved her. She was a special girl with special needs. Seriously couldn't get enough of her. She found a perfect home.

and.... Boscoe and Maisey, where it all started. Boscoe and Maisey came from a shelter in Killeen and were inseparable. We found them a fantastic home together!! So magical.

So at the end of all of this, you are probably saying "THAT GIRL IS CRAZY". Probably a tiny bit true. The best part of this experience is seeing my kids with these dogs. They've learned a lot and have taught me a lot. Now when we find a home for a dog, my daughter Amelia says "It's ok mommy. It's the same every time. We are sad to see this dog go, but now we can go get another to save." You can't beat that.

As this time of year usually brings chaos to the Maguire home, I've been behind on blogging! You see right before Christmas every year we usually have an 'Irish' invasion. My husbands relatives come over almost every year and it is pure and crazy fun. So I'm going to try and get caught up on my blogging. I have lots to share!

The cuteness comes from Piper and her family that I so look forward to photographing every year. Her personality is spectacular in every way and she makes my day brighter every time I see her. I love this year's (2011) photos. Thanks Piper, Heather and Ruston.

Well it's official. I'm addicted to fostering dogs. This little precious girl is my 5th for the year and she just went to her new home. Olivia Jude was her name (now it is Bella) and she was such a wonderful thing to experience. We all loved her and her snuggles. People ask me all of the time how I do this without wanting to keep them all. Ha!!! It is not easy. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats of my own so if I keep one I'll probably lose a husband. That's what keeps me from keeping one. Although Shane almost lost out to Miss Jude. If you are ever thinking of fostering a dog or adopting a dog make sure you go to www.bluedogrescue.com . I loved the details at a recent rehearsal dinner at the Zilker Clubhouse. Everything was so personal and sweet.

How amazing is this? They had these two childhood photos of the bride and groom enlarged and hanging at opposite ends of the room.

Every place setting had one of these unique 'fans' with a different 'life' photo from the lives of the bride and groom.

I love Austin so much. This was our view as we wrapped up the evening. Wedding photos coming soon!

My life is pretty full. I love my job, 2 great kids, 1 great husband, 3 dogs, 2 cats, etc. It really couldn't be anymore perfect. Then this little flea covered girl is added to the mix and well... my heart is just melting. Meet Carmen. She is our newest little foster dog (not for long I'm sure). Carmen is one special dog. We found her at Town Lake Animal Shelter and I'm hoping to find her the home she deserves. She is a 2 month old pit bull mix (we think) and she couldn't be more perfect. Sweet, sweet, sweet. Something you should know about me. I have a weak heart when it comes to animals. I have a hard time walking away from a sad animal story (the reason I have 3 dogs and 2 cats). I'm afraid I've also passed this on to my daughter, Amelia (not the best for my husband who didn't grow up with animals). So, when I saw this photo of an unlikely Rottweiler and Chihuahua pair in a tiny cage in a shelter I caved and decided to foster them. For 3 months, Boscoe and Maisey stayed in our playroom getting healthy (Boscoe had a bad case of heart worms). Our family grew to love these two. But all good things must come to an even better end...
Boscoe and Maisey now have a wonderful home with Colby. Just look at them. No more play room confinement! They have lots of room to roam! Thank you Colby! This is one of those moments that makes me giddy! The groom is my amazing brother-in-law and the bride is my new amazing sister-in-law. They had a beautiful wedding on New Year's Eve and I was honored to be the photographer. Good Times. Ciaran is the third Maguire brother to marry and end up in Austin (from Ireland). There is something about Austin. My husband was the first to make the move to Austin. His brother Gareth met his wife at our wedding and now Ciaran met his match and is here as well. Happy 2011! Ours started with this lovely little girl in her ruby red slippers! While we all celebrated 2011, Amelia slept like an angel. I can't believe 2010 is behind us. Crazy how life moves along. The holidays put a stop to my blogging for the most part. This time of year is always a crazy one in our house (and most of yours I'm sure). We usually have lots of Irish visitors, parties,... and more parties filled with lots of music (including re-occurring renditions of Neil Diamond and Elvis,.. seriously). It was truly amazing and topped off by a great New Year's Eve wedding (I'll post pics soon)! I hope yours was just as wonderful! Now to 2011,.. oh the possibilities!

We went to the lighting of the tree at the Capitol this weekend (for the first time ever) and it made me feel so grateful to live in Austin. It was a magical night. Moment of Weakness!

I recently told a Facebook friend that I might have to resort to "De-Friending" her (I'm sure she is worried). She posted this photo above along with the sob story of Luda and Chalupa, two dogs stuck in the Killeen Shelter. One look at that photo and I just couldn't help myself,.. I felt the insane need to help in some way. So, these two are now out of the shelter and in my crowded home (with 3 dogs of my own, 2 cats, 2 kids and a husband ,.. oh and a rat and a fish). Yes, I am COMPLETELY crazy, but glad I helped them. So now Boscoe and Maisey (renamed by my kids) are our new foster dogs through Blue Dog Rescue. And let me just say they are two of the most perfect dogs I've ever come across. Boscoe is a 5 year old, 80 pound Rottweiller with a heart of gold (and a few heartworms that he will be treated for). Maisey is a 5 year old 6 pound chihuahua who is just as sweet. They really do sleep like that all of the time. So, if you feel the need to adopt two wonderful dogs then you should check them out at www.bluedogrescue.com . As soon as they are healthy, we want them to go to a fabulous forever home! Cute little Gracie was a slight challenge. Her parents spent the entire time prying things out of her hands before they went in her mouth. In the two above photos I think Gracie had reached a point of absolute frustration because everything was being taken away from her so she went for the arm. I love these photos. I like to call this photo "The loving choke hold." (no animals were injured). My sweet Amelia is turning 6 today! She is one of the most amazing kids I've ever known. The best things about her: Her love of animals (as demonstrated above), her love of life and her love of me. Yes, I seem to be her favorite person at the moment. She also has an opinion about everything and doesn't hold back her feelings. I'm sure this last trait will come in handy when she's older (right)?

Is that...... a dog eating a cupcake? Yes and at his own birthday party. I just experienced my first ever 'dog' birthday party. I have to say, Preacher deserves every cupcake he gets. He is a 12 year old Great Dane and has been through a lot this year. He is in remission after going through treatment for cancer. My best friend (of 34 years) is the best mom Preacher could ask for. She and her amazing husband have 12 dogs of their own (yes, they are completely insane). But, they love each and every one of them. So here we are. The end of the first week of school. This first photo is almost an exact replica of my sister and I when we were younger in front of our house on the first day of school. It is awesome and a little cheesy. Looking back at our 1st day of school photos is one of my favorite things to do. Anyway, this a really exciting time because Amelia has started Kindergarten! Now,... to why I "pity the fool". I will be the first to admit that my kids are pretty amazing in almost every way! Of course, I'm the parent.... so thinking your kids are great is pretty standard. So, the week before school started I had parents asking me how I was doing,.. "Are you emotional?", "Do you have the tissues ready?", "Are you going to be an emotional mess"? To which I answered, No, No and Nope! I know, sounds terrible. But, these great children have big personalities, are strong willed (Amelia especially and I really don't know where she gets that from) and are just independent little bundles of joy. Really they are!!!! But the truth is they need their time away from me as much as I need time away from them. Back to the "I pity the fool". These photos below are just a taste of what their teachers are in for. I just hope they appreciate their crazy ways as much as I do (no really, I do).

We are lucky enough to be able to spend a few weeks in Hawaii with my sister and her family this summer. We are on the Island of Kauai and it is truly one of the most beautiful places I've experienced. I haven't posted on my blog a lot this month so I thought I would post several photos from our trip to share with all. This first photo (above) is what our car looks like on a daily basis. We go paddle boarding almost everyday. It is so much fun! Enjoy the rest.

Crazy Month for Photography!

I'm not sure I've ever traveled as much as I have this month. Before the month started, I was in Santa Barbara, then Lubbock, Santa Fe, New York, Boston, back to Santa Fe and then a final trip to Dallas. It has been amazing in so many ways. The best part has been the people I've met along the way and of course the photos! The above photo makes it all worth it. That dog "Ed" is looking out at the exact backdrop for my wedding this past Saturday. Beautiful!

Dennis and Lisa live in Austin and were nice enough to bring me with them for their wedding in Santa Fe, NM. We took these photos the day before the wedding. The dress Lisa is wearing was her mother's wedding dress in the 60's. Pretty amazing! I'll post wedding pics soon! Have a great week!

I photographed a beautiful wedding in Lubbock recently at the Legacy Event Center in downtown. Being from Lubbock, I thought this wall was pretty amazing! Margaret's bridal store opened in Lubbock in the 40's and was opened for years!!! I thought this wall was a nice tribute and made a great backdrop for my photos of beautiful Haley! Taylor and Amanda had a wonderful wedding and I can't thank them enough for their hospitality. The wedding was at the beautiful Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse , near Santa Barbara, California. Many thanks to my sister for helping me out this weekend! We had a lot of fun!

I just got back from shooting an amazing wedding in California and had to share!!!! I got this photo on the drive back from the wedding (near Santa Barbara) at 12:30 am. That is fog rolling in over the hills. Beautiful right? Anyway, I will share photos from the spectacular wedding soon! Have a good week!
